It’s Busteds.

Sal tells it like it is.The site is under some kind of evil spell, I think. That must be it. Every other site I manage on Dreamhost works fine, except this one, which has been getting dramatically slower in the last few weeks. Cam and I took some time to wave some dead chickens at various MySQL usual suspects, but to no avail.

Meanwhile I have turned off all plugins except for Akismet, in the hope that this will keep load times down to mere tens of seconds. The Dreamhost people periodically send me questions before returning to their own deliberations.

I would be interested in hearing from other people who may have ideas as to what is amiss, or what further tests might be tried.

Update: Dreamhost have moved Club Troppo to another MySQL server, which for now seems to have sped things up a lot. I’ll keep an eye on the site though as we’ve had this false dawn before in the past few weeks.

No idea what is wrong, but of late I am having trouble loading your site. Oh, and the preview function below the comments box is kaput, and just shows this error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function show_subscription_checkbox() in /home/.luther/kparish/clubtroppo.com.au/wp-content/themes/Club_Troppo/single.php on line 40

Jacques, I’ve tried a few times to post a comment to the “Keynes the Monetarist” thread. The first time it was accepted but has never actually shown up (should have been comment 13). The next two times — most recently just now — I get a Wordpress message saying that message has already been posted. Nice little catch-22!

You’re probably sick and tired of this whole business — and who could blame you — but if you have any helpful comments on this little problem it’d be much appreciated.
