Missing Link Problems
Posted by Jacques Chester on Monday, May 21, 2007
Hello everyone;
There’s been reports that the Missing Link emails are coming through as text with visible HTML tags. If this is happening to you, can you please contact me at jacques@chester.id.au or reply underneath this post.
Update: It would also be useful if you could tell me which email client you are using, and if you can forward the offending email to me.
Update #2: I think I have it fixed, but I’d like to double check. I would like a volunteer from among those of you who’ve had the visible tags problem. Anyone?
Update #3: No, I was wrong. Essentially the upgrade to Wordpress 2.2 has broken the plugin we use to send out Missing Link. Normally this would be a matter of waiting for the plugin author to update their code, but the author of the plugin had a spat with the developers of Wordpress, which means no such update will be forthcoming.
Now it turns out that that in 2.2 Wordpress includes some new facilities for send emails, so with a certain amount of deep breathing I will be turning my hand at a quick-and-dirty plugin to take over from the old one. Please bear with me, this is likely to be hairy.

I’ve been getting the weird emails – the last two missing links plus the email / post you just sent. My email for that is l.carrollATlatrobe.edu.au and the client is Outlook (thru no fault of my own, I stress)

In your case, Outlook is not the one identifying it as spam, it’s the server.
