The place called choice

‘No reason to get excited’, the thief, he kindly spoke,
‘There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we’ve been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let’s not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.’

  1. Thank you Chris, for opening the page to share this national moment, in the face of the personal work you otherwise have to do.

Been a journey mate, and you’ve embraced much waywardness along the way from us who’ve responded, yet you were there all the while, in one place or another. Yet you never sought to make our voluntary contribution your personal gain.

This comment is to note one thing especially, and may it live long and entrenched within the ‘blogosphere, which is that in Back Pages you alone put forward Kevin Rudd as the man who could do what so many wanted, at least: boot the poverty as grown in national government.

Let’s note also that Back Pages spawned in many ways the initial success of Larvartus Prodeo, where the latter’s creator captured the loss of audience from Back Pages’ closure. Best wishes of course to Mark, but let’s pay heed now to where a groundswell began.

  2. Howard’s conceded.

Let’s slap it on the table. This is not a victory for the ‘left’. For everything the “left’ stands against – almost certainly that’s been heard.

Let’s square up, in real terms, to where the electorate is at. For mine, it’s not about left and right, for goodness sake – gee whizz, is that in the suburbs? – the electorate wants real leadership. It doesn’t want this left and right thing.
