Mapping home

Posted by Ken Parish on Saturday, March 15, 2008

I’ve been playing around today with a Google Map Generator utility, to show CDU law students how to find the venues for various interstate intensive seminars we’re running for our external undergraduate program over the next few weeks.

It’s pretty nifty, and depicts a location in optional street directory, aerial photo or hybrid mode (display changed by button).  Here’s an example, showing where Jen, Jess and I live here at Rapid Creek in Darwin.

You do realise that your days of nude sunbaking in the backyard are now over, don’t you Ken?

If that was even an issue, the map has got us living two doors along the road from where we really do, so I’d probably be safe. And most of our yard is covered by trees so you couldn’t really see most of it from a satelite photo anyway.

Ken has a gazebo, so roll on the Dry season. (Though not when I’m visiting).

You could have received bonus geek points if you’d used OpenStreetMap.
