I don't think it's telling tales out of school to let you know that Legal Eagle also got accepted into the Oxford BCL, but became a mum, which meant taking up her place was a wee bit awkward! I do not think enough people attended to create a critical mass (if that is the correct concept). There were 64 submissions and ten submissions were presented today. The meeting confirmed that there are talented and able people in all our communities, which I suspected to be true, but it is good to see in in practice. One of the value of this meeting was we actually saw our two MHR's taking notes on issues such as the experience of carers, and feeding the constraints they have to deal with, such as budgetary constraints. We can be too cynical. If the bureaucrats are encouraged to think outside their usual frames of reference the process would have been worthwhile - but that may not happen.
