PJ O’Rourke speaks at the 25th Annual John Bonython Lecture and CIS Annual Dinner

Tuesday, 2 December 2008, Sydney
Monday, 8 December 2008, Auckland

The Centre for Independent Studies is delighted to announce that American author PJ ORourke will deliver the Centres 25th John Bonython Lecture at its Annual Dinner.

PJ ORourke is America’s leading political satirist and the best-selling author of ten books. O’Rourkes career skewering both the left and the right on the ends of his razor-sharp one-liners has included writing in The National Lampoon, American Spectator, Playboy, Esquire, Vanity Fair, Harper’s and Rolling Stone. Currently he is a Research Fellow of the Cato Institute and a regular correspondent for The Atlantic Monthly. His latest book, On the Wealth of Nations: Books That Changed the World, is a witty exploration of Adam Smiths 1776 book, considered the fundamental work of economics.

O’Rourke will also be speaking at a lunch in Perth on Friday, 5 December 2008
Please indicate your interest in attending one of the PJ O’Rourke events by emailing jbl@cis.org.au

I used to enjoy P.J. O’Rourke (despite disagreeing with his politics), but lately he’s sounded more and more like a cracked record. I’ve been unable to finish the last book of his that I acquired.
