But the policy could not safely endure throughout a two-term presidency.

Well it's been done before.

I wouldn't expect Obama to make commentaries about international organization until he's in the Round Room, on the hotline. A lot of people 'round the world will either be a. Pissed off at the US and/or b. Eager to stick the boot into the biggest kid ijn the playground. He'll have to tread carefully. It's probably because he knows that the US can't do it alone that he's saying nothing. Also he appears to be earnestly endeavouring to put the stereotype that says liberals hate their country in the past.

His main priority is to provide stimulus to kick of the new boom. I think he'll be doing this by reinvesting in science and precipitating another technologically driven economic boom. As Wolf says this might take time. Wolf doesn't mention Obama change the energy economy schtick. Think about it. If you can develop new and more efficient energy acquisition, delivery and efficiency it will create whole new markets. People already are in the shit in America, they know Obama isn't to blame. So to get re-elected they only have to think he's doing the right thing.

Part of this will be to convince people that they can and will get thru this. Solidarity. He's quite good at the inspiration thing. 5 days, we'll see.
