Its Mars. And its old hat. We know for a fact that there used to be liquid water on Mars thanks to the pristine river beds. And we also know for a fact that this was the case thousands, and not millions of years ago.

Well, some scientists are still on the fence about the water, so I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s fact, there was a New Scientist article a while back which pointed out that there were other mechanisms than water that can create such pristine river beds.

And this photo isn’t old hat, what’s new about it is that the research team think that it is showing water/effects of water right now, which as far as I’m aware is new.

All speaking as an interested layperson, rather than any sort of planetary specialist :-), but it is a fantastic photo!

“Well, some scientists are still on the fence about the water….”

Do you have to take your public service nonsense wherever you go? The fact is you don’t get river-beds without liquid water. And every year on Mars there are at least two dust-storms associated with the CO2 at each pole going from solid to gas. So therefore we know the liquid water was there not long ago. We are obviously talking thousands and not millions of years. Resist you mindless NASA programming.

OK but I want to know what the blue spots at the top are? Condies crystals?

This is just a big fat bureaucratic NASA distraction from the fact that NASA has spent mega-billions and now has no non-covert launch capacity. They are either the biggest joke agency in the world or they are laughing at us and have massive assets and activities that we know nought about.

You need a thick atmosphere to hold liquid water. And you need a closer orbit than what Mars now had to have running water. So on that basis we know that THOUSANDS and not MILLIONS of years ago Mars got much closer to the sun for at least part of its orbit, and that it had a thick atmosphere.

And how has NASA helped in this matter? They have wasted money and ridiculed everyone who has pointed out the obvious. They are the worst public servants in the world. Worse than the CIA. The most stupid, and the most persistent in the spreading of stupid ideas.
