(Via Tim Blair) For us execrated boomers it’s a black day. Warren Zevon’s dead after a “long illness”. I thought you only got mesothelioma from asbestos.

I was never a huge Zevon fan but I always thought “You better stay away from him, he’ll rip your lungs out Jim” was one of the best lines in any song, ever.
I was quite enamoured with “little old lady…” and “ha! I’d like to meet his tailor”, but it’s all good. I’ve only heard two of his songs, but with all the Zevon-worship that goes on around here, and the quality of the songs I have heard, it’s obviously time to go buy some CDs…
Gwar, hit somebody!
I’m thinking you’d like this lyric Mark from “searching for a heart”:
Darkness in the morning
Shadows on the land
Certain individuals
Aren’t sticking with the plan
CHORUS
And I’m searching for a heart
Searching everyone
They say love conquers all
You can’t start it like a car
You can’t stop it with a gun
Then there is my favourite strangely ignored by RWDBs in Australia:
“And Johnny is my main man.
He’s the keeper of the key
He’ll put your mind at ease
He’s guaranteed to please
Back by popular demand.
Look around, my little friend
Jubilation in the land
Freddie get ready
Rock steady
When Johnny strikes up the band
When Johnny strikes up the…
When Johnny strikes up the…
When Johnny strikes up the band”
I remember him doing something with Jackson Browne, talk of opposites attracting
