So…..it’s Una’s Restaurant, 340 Victoria St, Darlinghurst on Tuesday 4 November at 6.30pm. Troppo bloggers past and present are invited to join Great Armadillo Ken Parish, and I, for dinner. You don’t have to be a Troppo blogger to join us – after all, most people who’ll be present at Una’s on Tuesday night won’t know a ‘Troppo Armadillo’ from that useless nag they drew earlier in the office sweepstake.
Chris, Roop, Stephen – would be good to get a nay or yay in advance so that we don’t have ugly scenes with overwrought people in large hats trying to steal the seats we’ll be hoarding for you at the table. Wendy and Wayne – we’ll think fondly of you.
PS: This is not to be confused with the already notorious Sydney Bloggers Bash scheduled for Saturday 8 November. The ever-changing details of that bacchanal are available under “Going Down South” elsewhere on Troppo.
A long time ago my sad silly drugged out sister & I used to do a great camped up version of the lady is a tramp – me providing all the tinkly bits on the piano , & Em belting it out in her ‘cool, clear, wind in my hair/life without care’ way. A good memory.
Hope you have a fun troppo night. Have an extra dessert for me, Geoff.
should be “free fresh wind in my hair” (my memory’s broke – that’s oke.)
You are coming for the Saturday bash aren’t you Geoff??
And what exactly do you mean ‘already notorious’????
Sure, I’ll try to make it, I apologise in advance if I’m a little tired, its a busy time of the year.
I’m sort of stuck on this idea of eating at 6.30, but sure, should be able to stop by and say g’day at least … that’s about my walk time.
“You are coming for the Saturday bash aren’t you Geoff??”
To 3WM? I’ll try and drop in – if I can get past 100’s of backpackers, not to mention all the hot police pursuits going off on the George St strip:). .
i’m going to try making saturday’s but tonight’s not looking promising, so have a few for me too…
Chris,
I suggested the 6.30 (for 7) timeslot because it’s early in the week and some people have to start work early in the morning. There’s nothing preventing us from kicking on until late, and nothing preventing people from arriving late for that matter. I’m using to Darwin manyana time, where you nominate a 7 pm start, and with a bit of luck most people will arrive by 8 or 8.30.
So, was a good time had?
Very pleasant, and unblogospherically civilised.
Well I certainly thought so. Ken, Chris, Roop, Nardo from Soulpacific and I dined on Una’s famous stodge and subsequently ended up in the King’s Cross Hotel in a kind of surreal Karaoke bar. In fact, there was a karaoke competition underway, compered by a large drag queen dressed in what appeared to be that cake left out in the rain in “Macarthur Park.” We however talked about politics and blogging in a very cordial and civilised way.
It was nice, unusual….:)
So, did Ken do karaoke Dylan?
It took all of us to hold him down Woodsy …
… and what about Coach Mudflaps dropping Roff to save Sailor … this is surely a national scandal!
