As you can see from the post immediately below, Don Arthur has joined the Troppo blogging mob. Don is a longstanding stop-and-start blogger, due to the demands of employment and postgraduate study and research. His most recent blog is here, but Don found he was unable to update it frequently enough for viability, and has decided joining a group blog like Troppo would be a better bet.
Don has always been one of my favourite bloggers, and his patchy presence at Troppo is more than welcome. I love Don’s whimsical, analytical style with a wry po-mo twist, and I hope you will too.
Incidentally, one of the main reasons I developed Troppo as a group blog in the first place was precisely to provide a blogging outlet for excellent writers who just didn’t have the time or inclination to maintain their own solo blog. Don’s move fits perfectly with that concept, as does the fact that Geoff Honnor and Wendy James are posting infrequently at the moment. With a bit of luck both may find a bit more time for blogging in the near future. And I wonder what’s happened to Wayne Wood?
Great home for Don. I know everyone is busy but I miss the others.
The rare times when everyone is in full swing, the bar is jumpin’ and the armadillo dances to the tune of a concertina..
Welcome abroad Don, your a welcome addition at Troppo.
Oh yes. And Stephen. Another MIA Troppo blogger who I hope might occasionally find time to blog one of his witty posts, as studies permit. As David Tiley observed, the Troppo team is a damn impressive one when everyone is producing.
Oops lazy sentence. I really should use the preview function before I post.
oops, lazy blogger. i don’t know if it’s asking too much, but i should really try and post something this year.
I’m still here, just unimpressed with the subject matter, not the standard of the debate mind you, just that I don’t like the impotent feeling engendered by the inability to shape events. Let’s face it, anyone would be better than a drunken boofhead that is so disorganised that he couldn’t even vote for himself.
I’ve been busy designing billing systems that integrate into a corporate registry for a firm of accountants and I fall into bed exhausted after work. Also doing some research on developing new lines of ginseng with elite germplasm for tissue culture in Indonesia; arranging field trials with my brother in the Adelaide hills and having a running battle with the Public Trustee over the administration of an estate that owes me money. All in all life is keeping me away from the blogs at the moment.
Hi Wayne. And Roop. You’re still out there! Excellent. Are you in legal practice yet? A post or two (or even the occasional comment) would be very welcome. What with the election almost out of the way, people might even start getting interested in a wider range of subjects again.
Ah… the Tropposhere… I love it already.
Don – good to see your stuff. It would be a good idea to put a link at the top of your old blog redirecting people to here. It would be even better to duplicate these posts over there with a link to here. It is important not to take down the old pages, but leave the up for a long time.
yeah, i’m working for a law firm [won’t say which one], which is pretty fun, but doesn’t leave much time for blogging i’m afraid. incidentally, anyone who can hold down a full-time job and blog at the same time is an impressive species of human.
maybe i might be able to coax myself back into the blogging once i’ve finished my by-correspondence college of law. i wouldn’t hold your breath, though.
also, labor by six seats.
FX,
Thanks for reminding me. I’ve been meaning to do a post for W4T announcing the move to Troppo.
I also promised Ken a short bio. I’d better get onto it.
What with my election day ‘Don’s Party’ and entertaining the visitors from Scotland I don’t think I’m going to get much blogging done this weekend.
And now… it’s time to head off to work.
