Welcome to Sophie Masson

As readers will see from the post immediately below, Sophie Masson has joined the growing team of Troppo bloggers. She probably won’t have time to blog very frequently, being a busy working author and occasional op-ed pundit in the daily press, Quadrant and elsewhere.

I’ll post a bio piece on Sophie in due course, but in the meantime here’s a link to her website. It was quite fortuitous that Troppo commenters started slagging Sophie earlier today for her article in this morning’s SMH. I had already started making moves to recruit her to Troppo, so your appetites are well wetted. Having Sophie here is a bit like blogging with JK Rowling or JRR Tolkien IMO. Sophie would probably be quite happy if she had half as much money as either of them, although Rowling is probably a safer bet. I noticed in this morning’s media that Tolkien currently holds the dubious distinction of being the third biggest money earner of all dead celebrities, after Elvis and Peanuts creator Charles Schultz! One Ring to Bind Them All.

Yes welcome, fellow Armidalian (Invergowrian just sounds silly) — now fellow Armadillo. I’m chuffed too!

Yes, an excellent addition to Troppo, Ken. As if there weren’t already lots of good reasons to drop in every day – I’ve been an admirer of Sophie’s work through Quadrant for some time now.
