Comments cactus – sort of

Many readers will have noticed that pressing the comments button will produce a ‘forbidden’ message. This is happening across the domain.

I do not know why this is happening (it is not happening for me- everything seems fine here.) However, if this is happening for you, a way around it is to click the timestamp link, rather then the comment link.

I fear the software that runs this blog is deteriating rapidly. I am not sure what the solution is either. Any thoughts, or tips, would be gratefully appreciated.

It’s working fine at the moment, Scott – at least for me.

I’ve been having this problem since some time last night (I think). I can either click on the time stamp or use the link on the sidebar, but the comments link below the post summary doesn’t work.

Further to my last post, it seemed to occur at the same time that John Quiggin’s blog server was undergoing a major spam attack. I wonder if this has anything to do with it?

Scott, accessing has been fine. Late on Friday night I got an error message when trying to post a comment. I noticed then that no comments had been posted after 7:23pm, I think it was. I assumed that something was stuffed with the system, so I saved the comment in Word and posted it OK next morning.

I had to hit the timestamp.

Best of luck Scott!

It’s working ok now.

My first move when things aren’t working ….

Reboot the server.

You should consider moving to WordPress, Scott. It’s very good.

Scott – Seems to be a browser thing. The pop-up comments only work in Firefox.

I’m still getting a ‘Forbidden’ message in IE
