Maybe he’s following the Governator in just a jump to the left, as the song goes… Readers will judge for themselves whether, as Gerry says, “This is worth more than a footnote in the ongoing history wars”.

The history warriors are getting pretty desperate if this is the kind of material they are using. Surely “Mr History” Windschuttle can tell the difference between “The Clash of Civilisations” and an actual academic book with provable stuff in it?
David, it’s weird and ironic. A bit like Francis Fukuyama, Huntington seems to specialise in sweeping generalisations based on little empirical evidence. Whereas our friend Mr History seems to specialise in pedantic examinations of the minutiae of empirical evidence (or its absence). Hendo, on the other hand , specialises in sweeping generalisations etc etc.
Hendo goes for the minutiae about nothing option. Certainly in this one.
