Hi-Yo Silver Away! … to the keyboard
"Those educated more at the movies will fancy themselves as the Lone Ranger, or Gary Cooper in High Noon, upholding the right on lawless streets whence all but he had fled. Being individualists, we’re vain that way, measuring our courage by our loneliness."
Andrew Bolt The Herald Sun
Hey! You’re designing all these beautiful new screen savers for my fellow right-wingers, and I’ve missed out!
Unfair.
Reading Daniel Pipes prescription for internment (read concentration) camps for US Muslims should help many discern who are the real ”barbarians” in this day and age.
No screensavers of you tim? Even the new conservatism can’t stomach plug-ugly.
He’s been too busy blogging up a commendable storm re the Tsunami to be making screensavers Rex. And it’s way too early in 2005 for this lame shit.
I didn’t understand the Bolt article at all.
I don’t know what point he was trying to make apart from saying rightwingers like him didn’t group-think like the left-wingers do.
Which is what the left claims as well, so whoop de do.
Extremely perplexed by his claim that the collapse of communism was a major blow for the left. Surely he knows that the vast majority of leftwingers aren’t communist by any stretch of the imagination.
Harry: Yes, Mr Bolt, all rightwingers are individuals.
Bolt: I’m not!
“…measuring our courage by our loneliness.”
The Unabomber’s manifesto was full of lines like that too.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to recall that the Lone Ranger was a fictional character, and that Gary Cooper was an actor performing in works of fiction – and in both cases, funded and promoted by large entertainment/media organisations employing thousands of people.
Y’know, maybe Andy’s analogy does hold some water after all.
“It can get pretty lonely as a conservative columnist” was also pretty funny too.
“but I seem to recall that the Lone Ranger was a fictional character,”
Who shared his camp roll with a bloke named Tonto….
Just a couple of chaps in chaps?
