An Islamic free trade zone?

From the Social Change project, at the Mercatus Centre, George Mason
University, a link to a report on the recent three-day World Islamic Economic Forum held under the auspices of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

The forum hosted more than 500 delegates from 44 countries. The plan is to
create an Islamic equivalent of the World Economic Forum. There was talk of
an Islamic common market to improve the present situation where the OIC countries’ collective GDP is less than 5% of the world total and they account for less than 7% of global trade. .

Other items from the Social Change site, some history on the formation and
the activities of the World Bank and a piece on impending food shortages in the south of Africa.
