Oh Nick, you just don’t understand Japanese culture! Fancy being ignorant of the need to keep your ears clean, especially if you’re a cultured person. What else would you do to ensure that your bodily hygene was up to scratch? Have you ever tried any other way of checking inside your ears? Phillistine.

80 to 95 percent of East Asians have dry earwax, whereas the wet variety is abundant in people of African and European ancestry (97 to 100 percent).

This may explain the need for such a product in Japan. It’s harder to remove dry earwax.

Interesting to see just once though. I got to see it when getting an industrial hearing test recently, and it’s amazing how big the bits of wax look on a 20″ screen!
