TodayTonight host Naomi Robson was trying to get to Papua to save the life of a young boy earmarked to be eaten by a tribe of cannibals, an industry source claims.
It’ll be interesting how the lefties will view this – conspiracy to kidnap; “stolen generation”; rescue from savages; media wanking? The possibilities are intriguing. Seems Robson & Co will only be deported without punishment. Just as well, eh? If they were jailed you’d never have heard the end of screams to the Australian government for intervention, and anything less than wholesale vilification of the Indonesians would deemed “appeasement”.
How is Wicking’s form? Publishing a classic cartoon here at Troppo on a breaking news story before it’s even broken (or at least before almost anyone has heard about it).
No worries Ken, though I haven’t worked in Mr Murdoch’s Darwin newsroom for a long, long time. I work from home which is a much more civilised arrangement.
I’ll try to pop something on Club Troppo a couple of times a week.

This story first percolated into my consciousness via half-heard newsgrabs and it kind of framed as, “Naomi Robson eaten by cannibals.” I wasn’t totally surprised, to be honest.
:-))
So much material; so little time.
