Weekend reflections

Well folks – do you want this feature or not? We had it up and it got quite a few comments for a while, and then they dwindled. I then stopped posting it without attracting howls of protest. Let me know if you want it to stay and I’ll hoist it up at a time of general choosing – doesn’t have to be weekends we can move it to a part of the week which is otherwise poorly serviced by such things (if there is one). Or we can leave it be and let it die a quiet death – for now anyway (if only the real thing were like that).

So Troppodillians, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

People, why is it that everytime I click my browser over here all the text on the site is italicised? I find that when I then do a Refresh it goes to normal again. But is this a problem on my browser or are others seeing the same thing?

I think its your browser Mr Soon.

I thought it went from weekend to monthly but last time when asked, was told it was dead.

With a bit of rainfall, threatening clouds and prognostications about the probability of la nina about to happen – at least in south eastern Australia — it occurs to me that if this is for real then we are about to see the end of the one-in-1000 year drought. Surely the stuff of prose, an epic poem perhaps. Les Murray where are you? Even a water restricted modernist like John Tranter could have pen poised. Are we still capable as an antipodean civilisation of rejoicing, theologically or otherwise that this is a great time?

Oh another thought, with an election looming this year, I note blogs are becoming a lot more partisan than usual. Something that actually escaped me in 04. Even the spin doctoring is coming in.

It appears this blog is still deeply into censorship. Chris Sheil simply cannot abide any opinion contrary to his. His reaction to losing an argument (decisively) on the Burke thread is to censor my comment and to end comments on the thread. The man just cannot stand losing, can he?
