A caller on local radio yesterday suggested Chris Lilley should star in the planned television movie on Maxine McKew — as McKew, Howard and some representative voters. It was meant as joke, but I think he might very well pull it off.

Why? I’ve watched and loved everything Lilley has ever done, and he specialises in characters who are massively over-reaching and in love with themselves and their own perceived brilliance, while, in fact, being tragically lacking in dignity, talent, self awareness and social skills. I don’t see McKew as falling into that category.

Well, what about a fictitious Making of ‘Maxine’? He could portray the actors chosen for the parts of McKew, Howard and some representative voters.

I would like to be that white blouse of Maxine’s with the satiny collar and cuffs and the see-through stripes.

Fyodor for Annabel Crabb.

Ma certo.

Oh. I see what you mean. Probably still affirmative. Hair might be a challenge, but: I’d need some help to avoid looking like Nigel Tufnel.
