Damn that looks like histology! Looks like a macro of something, perhaps at 50 to 200 times magnification… but I couldn’t think of anything, however prepped, that looks like that (at least in a human, which is the only sort of histol I’ve done).
So… when the blurb on the photo source noticed how similar to a histol slide it might be… I wasn’t surprised.

My guess was an aerial photo of Lake Eyre. I was almost right, according to the URL.

I thought it may have been spores of some exotic fungus.
