There are times when Tex's earthy blogging style really suits an issue perfectly. This is one of them.

    and since Joh is undoubtedly senile by now, you just know there's bound to be a bunch of opportunistic relatives and hangers-on who have instigated this proceeding out of sheer greed.

    I think Goughn Whitlam's description of him as a bible bashing bastard was quite true. Unfortunately few people appreciated how accurate it was.

    Tex's reference to Joh's beginning slide [1959] down the road to big time corruption, re the oil deal, is the first mention of it I've seen in ages. At the time, one melbourne paper ran it before the Editor stepped in an killed the story. The Tribune also featured it briefly, then the item completely disappeared, and the rest, as they say, was history --- of corruption.
