a naive entrepreneur

Christopher Columbus
You were Columbus!

You were born in Corsica in 1451. As
a child you caught rides on ships; you always loved the sea. You didn't get much formal education but you were very clever when it came to navigation and sailing. Your idea to sail west to Asia was not to prove that the world was round, but rather to find a quicker route for spice trading. You first set out from Spain in 1492, and in the next year you land on what you thought was Asia but was really what is now Haiti. People say you were numerous things, including one of the greatest mariners in history, a visionary genius, a mystic, a national hero, a failed administrator, a naive entrepreneur, and a ruthless and greedy imperialist. You left this particular lifetime in 1506.

There's something wrong with this quiz Wayne. It alleges that I'm Confucius!

  2. Yobbo

I came out as Hitler. Not particularly pleased with those results, I changed some answers and came out as Napoleon. Phear me!

  3. Ken Parish

I'm Confucius as well. Hmmm. Maybe I should've answered more frivolously.

  4. mark

I'm Abe Lincoln, apparently. I didn't even choose the log cabin!

  5. Stephen Hill

I'm also a Confucian, mind you I always thought it would be more correct to refer to me as confusing.

Alright, woodsy's the only one out ... yes, bloody Confuscius!

I knew I should have picked the Hawke over the damn Eagle ... it gets back to a Steve Earle song ...

Just think back to that old John Denver song, Chris.

    (sings)
I am the eagle I live in high country
In rocky cathedrals I reach to the sky
I am the hawk, and there's blood on my feathers
But time is still turning, they soon will be dry
And all those who see me and all who believe in me
Share in the freedom I feel when I flyyyyy

Now, which sounds better? Really? It's freedom, Christopher! Freedom! And blood! Er... blood...

I was Lincoln. Oh, well - Victoria, Elizabeth & Marie A. probably had beards, too.

I suspect they had a remainder sale on Confucius. Me too, and I'm now wondering if choosing Chinese food was an important decider in the quiz?

  11. Gianna

I am Gandhi, probably because of the lentils (but surely not because I like to wear togas in log cabins).

John Denver mark? Not on your nellie buddy. It was Steve Earle, and his wonderful "Me and the Eagle", which goes in part:

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
I stood there in awe though I'd seen it before
I was born in these mountains and I'll die here for sure
I've traveled around I've seen city lights
But nothin' that shined like the big sky at night
Some mornings will find me up above the timberline
Lonesome don't seem like much once you're this high
When it's all said and done I usually find
Me and the eagle are of the same mind
