Mini media race-around

chicks.jpgStill procrastinating before the 5pm e-tutorial rush, so I'll whip around the newspapers as well:

  • How long will it take Tim Blair to start slagging Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen following the announcement of a series of anti-Bush concerts with other noteworthies like Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor and John Mellencamp (and Tim's favourite the Dixie Chicks)? I'm taking nominations in the comment box. I reckon 12 hours at the outside. I wonder if Tim's bought tickets yet, given that he's in Boston at the moment? I also wonder why Linda Ronstadt isn't on the bill? You're really past it when you can't even get on the bill at a leftie benefit concert.
  • The Sydney Morning Herald wraps up its excellent investigative series on waste, mismanagement and corruption in NSW Aboriginal land councils with an editorial and an opinion piece by a university anthropologist. Both argue that: (a) it's mostly the government's fault (and the white shoe brigade) that the land councils wasted mega-millions; and (b) it's a terribly difficult problem, but best start by giving them even more money and getting rid of all those culturally inappropriate bureaucratic accountability measures. That's bound to work.
  • Finally, News Online has a story about an Austrian health spa filled with chocolate. The spa's cosmetologist (whatever that is) explained that "we don't let them eat any - it's too fattening". But can you take a spa bath with your partner and then lick each other clean?

More importantly, My Morning Jacket = awesome band.

PS, on a completely unrelated note, John Butler Trio are the chlamydia of the Australian music scene.
