Well, the SMH is playing host again to a Masson family piece! This time, it's actually a Masson-Leach piece, our youngest son, 15 year old Bevis, writing an opinion piece about the joys of skateboarding, free of the controls of well-meaning programs like the government-funded Street Active program. You can find it on the Sydney Morning Herald's website too, in their Opinions section.. What needing to earn money can do for a child's initiative! He desperately wanted to go to a watersports summer camp in January but as we'd already paid for him to go to a skiing one in winter, we told him he had to earn his own money towards it. And this piece did it!

Hey! I read that over lunch. It was the most enjoyable opinion piece of the day. I had no idea he was THAT Masson-Leach.
And maybe what Bevis says about unsupervised skateboarding applies to blogging too.
That's an excellent piece, plus it reminds me of the situation happening in Raymond Terrace (about 40kms from Newcastle) at the moment.
Basically, they've banned skateboarding and bike-riding in the CBD (sic), partially because of complaints by the elderly citizens.
I always opposed the ban, and some of the reasons were given in Bevis' article.
I'm quite comfortable with it being unsupervised, but look forward to the day when helmets & body padding become mandatory .... blogging can be quite combatative, you know.
Good show, B!
Err...I cannae find it. Link?
Troppo readers are accustomed to being spoonfed. Here's the link to Bevis's article.
