You don't mean to tell me the bastards have eaten Ned, do you? My God that's horrible! How can the comic strip go on? Should I put a bereavement notice in the NT News, do you think?

I'm working on a complex plot twist involving Ned's slightly more funny twin brother assuming his identity.

Alas, poor Ned! I knew him, Horatio - A fellow of exquisite taste...

I reckon it's contract negotiations time again and Wicking is just reminding Ned how easily he can be written out of the series unless he accepts the current offer on the table.

Cartoon characters are known for their ability to take a few knocks and come back smiling.

So who's going to be the next Ned?

    David Tennant 1000/1
Julia Gillard 10/1 (obviously after the job - and more dangerously devious than Kimberley from Melrose Place)
    Mark Latham 6/4 on

There's also a bit of a buzz that Russell Crowe is looking to rediscover his edge by going the full "furry" in the right project.
