18. Rd6 was the boldest sacrifice I've ever seen - just to stop a pawn moving forward!
White teetered on the edge of disaster for about 10 moves, but had supreme confidence in his game plan. It was like watching a flamboyant fencing demonstration by a master on a tightrope.
Yes, 18 Rxd6 shows some serious chutzpah! Nice to see it come off. Given the date of the game, I'm crediting the winner with things having worked out, rather than with shredder or deep blue calculating abilities.
Yep, that was one wild and crazy game. Just goes to show what can be achieved by winkling and niggling the King into the centre rows. I'd call it a good Knight's work.
