The great John Clarke has a website!

Posted by Nicholas Gruen on Friday, November 9, 2007

I noticed a link at the bottom of a piece on Auden by John Clarke in an Age supplement which is a couple of weeks old but which I just read today.

I figured his site must have been there for a while, but not so.  It seems to have been launched on 17th October this year.  Complete with a priceless farnarkling report from the Gillies Report days and a more elaborate report he did in 2006.  All this with some classic John Clarke and Brian Dawe - including ‘deja vu‘ and Alexander Downer.

So enjoy – like I say – the poet laureate of our bullshit drenched world.

Indeed, the man is a Prince among antipodean piss-takers.

Thoroughly enjoyed his “The Sounds of Aus” on Auntie last night about the Strayan way of speech.

My daughter (13) found it absolutely fascinating, the idea that when her grandparents were her age you couldn’t actually hear an Australian voice on the radio news unless it was broadly caricatured a la “Dad and Dave”.
