Tandberg

Posted by Nicholas Gruen on Thursday, January 31, 2008

tandberg.gifRon Tandberg has done cleverer cartoons.  He’s done funnier ones.  But somehow I’ve never seen a cartoon that’s more Tandberg than this one.

The master of the simple idea.

And living national treasure.

Nicholas, you must be like me - a great lover of cartoons. I have been gathering them for decades and now have a collection of my favourite political cartoons going back to Menzies! I cherish them as much as my great classical recordings.

My great joy every morning is to go on the internet and look at daily cartoons. Tandberg, Nicholson (The Australian) and Pryor (CT) are all brilliant. I also take to Bill Leak, although he puches below the belt at times. A newcomer, Kudella, has a beauty in today’s Australian. It’s on the stock market.

    Headline should be Tandberg.

    Tandberg is my favourite, unquestionably.

But that one, not so much.

I’m surprised by how much I dislike Leunig these days. Used to worship him. Now I think he’s a whining ponce.

He’s a whining ponce in print, but a lot of his cartoons still hit the spot.
    Tandberg is da shizzle.
