How much wood could an Ivanchuk chuk

I’ve got to say I wasn’t expecting Ivanchuk’s next move. But then I’m not Ivanchuk.

Blacks 17th move, Kf7 looks like a blunder. He had the option of going back to e8 with the offer of a draw. At the very least, white would have to go with his second best option. But I guess Black wasnt in the mood being a queen up.
